Carved from dense Georgian basalt by stone craftsmen in Gori region. Heavier and more abrasive than marble — grinds spices and herbs efficiently. Functional piece with a raw, geological aesthetic.

Quality variability
Each piece is hand-carved. Surface texture and exact form vary slightly. Weight ranges 2–3kg for the mortar. Colour is consistent dark grey-black basalt throughout.
Storage / shelf life
Indefinite. Rinse with water and dry after use. Do not use soap — basalt is porous. Season with a small amount of neutral oil before first use.

Double-boxed in foam-lined outer carton. Approx. shipping weight 4–5kg. Freight cost quoted by destination at time of enquiry.

Notes
The grinding surface is intentionally left rough — not polished. This is the functional quality. It abrades itself smooth with use over several months.
