Hand-Painted Bolnisi Cross Plate

signed, one-off ceramic piece

Thrown and painted by a ceramicist in Bolnisi district using the traditional cross pattern that appears on the 5th-century Bolnisi Sioni church. Each plate is signed and varies slightly in colour and line weight. Not reproductions — each is an original work.

Sourcing area

Thrown and painted by a ceramicist in Bolnisi district, Kvemo Kartli — in the area of the 5th-century Bolnisi Sioni church from which the cross pattern originates.

Minimum order

1 plate.

Lead time

Each plate is made individually. Allow 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.

Quality variability

Diameter ranges 22–28cm. Line weight and glaze colour vary between pieces. Some have slightly irregular rims — consistent with hand-throwing. All are food-safe fired ceramics.

Storage / shelf life

Indefinite with normal ceramic care. Dishwasher-safe, though hand washing is recommended to preserve the painted surface over time.

Packaging

Individually foam-wrapped, double-boxed.

Import restrictions

No restrictions. Ceramic items are freely traded.

Notes

Each plate is signed on the reverse. These are original works — the cross pattern is treated as a living motif, not a historical replica.
