Carved Drinking Horn

polished horn with carved collar and stand

Sourced from craftsmen in the Mtskheta region who have worked horn for generations. The collar and stand are hand-carved from walnut or boxwood. Size ranges from 300ml to 700ml — specify when enquiring. A functioning vessel, not a decorative replica.

Sourcing area

Sourced from craftsmen in the Mtskheta region — Georgia's ancient capital and a centre of horn craft. Horn is sourced from domestic cattle in the highlands.

Minimum order

1 piece.

Lead time

4–6 weeks from confirmed order. Specify size (300ml–700ml) and stand material (walnut or boxwood) when enquiring.

Quality variability

Each horn is unique in shape, taper, and surface patterning. Colour ranges from pale cream-brown to near-black. The carved collar and stand differ in pattern between pieces — photos provided before shipping.

Storage / shelf life

Indefinite with care. Rinse with water after use — no harsh detergents. Rub with mineral oil or beeswax occasionally to maintain the surface.

Packaging

Wrapped in felt, boxed. The stand is packed separately within the same box.

Import restrictions

Domestic cattle horn products are generally unrestricted. Not subject to CITES. Confirm with your customs authority if importing into a country with strict organic material rules.

Notes

This is a functional vessel — it holds liquid. The horn is sealed internally. Not dishwasher-safe and should not be soaked. Capacity is approximate — horn volume varies by piece.
