From Caucasus

Caucasian Walnut Burl

raw slab or block, priced by kg

Cut from walnut burl growths in the forests of the South Caucasus. Exceptionally figured grain — sought by luthiers, furniture makers, and turners. Moisture content and dimensions confirmed before invoicing. Available in small blocks or larger slabs.

Sourcing area

Burl growths cut from Juglans regia trees in the forests of the South Caucasus — primarily Kakheti and Samegrelo woodland zones.

Minimum order

No minimum weight. Pieces are sold as individual blocks or slabs.

Lead time

Available stock is confirmed by photos before invoicing. Specific grain pattern or size requests require sourcing — allow 2–4 weeks.

Harvest variability

Burl growth is opportunistic — stock availability varies widely. The highest-figured material is very limited.

Quality variability

No two burl pieces are alike. Figure density, void presence, and colour from pale blonde to dark chocolate all vary. Moisture content is measured and provided — typically 10–15% air-dried.

Storage / shelf life

Air-dry in a shaded, well-ventilated space. Do not dry rapidly — checking risk. Moisture content provided with each piece.

Packaging

Wrapped in kraft paper, boxed or crated depending on size. Weight and crate dimensions confirmed before freight quote.

Import restrictions

No restrictions. Juglans regia is not CITES-listed.

Notes

Price is per kilogram — final price confirmed after weighing. Photos of available stock sent before commitment.
