Sourcing area

Made by a silversmith in Tbilisi's Abanotubani district, working in the Georgian niello tradition. Sterling silver and sulphide compound sourced locally.

Minimum order

Lead time

3–5 weeks from deposit payment. Design consultation via message or email before work begins. Motif options: vine, deer, geometric cross, or custom design.

Quality variability

Each piece is hand-engraved — line depth and spacing vary. The niello inlay is applied by hand and finished by filing. Minor surface variation is inherent to the technique.

Storage / shelf life

Indefinite. Clean with a soft cloth. Niello does not tarnish like plain silver — the black sulphide compound is stable. Avoid abrasives.

Cotton-lined jewellery box with a brief note on the niello technique.

Import restrictions

Sterling silver jewellery is generally unrestricted. Pieces containing significant silver content may require customs declaration.

Notes

The deposit is 50% of the agreed price, non-refundable if the piece is completed to the agreed specification. Balance is due before dispatch. The silversmith works alone — no rush orders.
