Harvested October

Rkatsiteli Grape Vine Seeds

5g packet, approximately 30–40 seeds

One of the oldest documented grape varieties in the world, cultivated in Georgia for at least 5,000 years. Suitable for wine, table use, or raisin production. Cold-hardy, late-ripening. Seeds harvested from heritage plantings in Kakheti.

Sourcing area

Heritage plantings in the Kakheti wine region — specifically the Alazani Valley and Gurjaani districts, where Rkatsiteli has been grown continuously for millennia.

Minimum order

1 packet (5g, approximately 30–40 seeds).

Lead time

Seeds are harvested in October and dispatched from November onward. Contact by September to confirm current season availability.

Harvest variability

Germination rates vary by harvest year and seed extraction method. Expected germination is 60–80% under suitable conditions. Seeds are not laboratory-graded — harvested, cleaned, and packed by hand.

Quality variability

Seed size is consistent within the variety. Some variation in coat colour (tan to brown). All seeds are from the same heritage variety — no cross-contamination.

Storage / shelf life

Store in a sealed, dry container at 4–10°C. Viability decreases after 12 months. Best planted in the spring following dispatch.

Packaging

Heat-sealed foil packet with paper outer. Includes basic growing notes.

Import restrictions

Plant material is subject to phytosanitary inspection at destination. Import permits may be required. Buyer is responsible for checking destination country requirements. USDA APHIS permit may be required for US import.

Notes

Grape seeds require stratification before planting. Soak for 24 hours in warm water, then cold-stratify at 4°C for 4–8 weeks. Germination occurs 4–8 weeks after stratification.
