Volcanic Mud

500g jar, mineral-rich volcanic clay

Sourced from thermal mud deposits near the Javakheti volcanic plateau in southern Georgia. High mineral content — iron, magnesium, silica. Applied as a body mask or poultice. Used in Georgian bath culture for centuries and still in active use in the Tbilisi hammams.

Sourcing area

Thermal mud deposits near the Javakheti volcanic plateau in southern Georgia — specifically from thermal vents in the Paravani lake basin area.

Minimum order

1 jar (500g).

Lead time

Available year-round from existing stock. Contact for multi-jar orders.

Quality variability

Mineral content is consistent — iron, magnesium, and silica are the dominant components. Texture varies slightly between batches from smooth clay to slightly granular. Colour is consistently dark grey-green.

Storage / shelf life

24 months sealed. Once opened, keep jar sealed tightly. If the surface dries, add a small amount of warm water and stir to restore consistency.

Packaging

500g glass jar with a plastic lid. Label includes mineral analysis summary.

Import restrictions

Clay and mineral mud products are generally unrestricted in most markets. Australia may require inspection — confirm with DAFF if importing.

Notes

Apply to skin as a mask or poultice, leave 15–20 minutes, rinse with warm water. Not for ingestion. Avoid contact with eyes. The iron content may temporarily stain light-coloured bath surfaces — rinse promptly.
