Collected from uncultivated pomegranate growing along the slopes of the Alazani river valley. Smaller fruit than commercial varieties, with more tart, complex juice. Suited to cultivation in warm temperate zones.

Uncultivated pomegranate growing along the slopes and river margins of the Alazani Valley in Kakheti, eastern Georgia.

Lead time

Harvested September–October. Dispatched from November onward. Contact by August to confirm current season availability.

Harvest variability

Fruit size and seed count vary by tree and growing site. Wild varieties are considerably smaller than commercial pomegranate — expect more variation than cultivated seeds.

Quality variability

Seed coat colour consistent pale cream. Germination expected at 50–70% — wild seeds are less uniform than cultivated stock.

Storage / shelf life

Sealed dry container at 4°C. Plant within 12 months of dispatch for best germination.

Heat-sealed foil packet with paper outer.

Import restrictions

Subject to phytosanitary inspection at destination. Import permits may be required. Warm temperate to subtropical climates required for outdoor cultivation (USDA zones 7–11).

Notes

Wild pomegranate is well-adapted to poor, dry soils and requires a long warm growing season. Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours before planting.
