Hand-Woven Belt (Qamari)

Woven on a backstrap loom by artisans in the Adjara and Guria regions. Traditional geometric pattern in natural dyed wool. Worn as a waist belt over the chokha or as a standalone accessory. Width approximately 6cm, length adjustable to 100–130cm.

Lead time

Woven to order. Allow 2–3 weeks. Colour combination within the traditional geometric palette can be specified when enquiring.

Quality variability

Width is consistent at approximately 6cm. Length is adjustable in the range 100–130cm. Pattern geometry is consistent but minor spacing variation between pieces is normal in hand weaving.

Storage / shelf life

Indefinite. Hand wash cold, dry flat. Do not tumble dry.

Folded and wrapped in tissue, tied with cord.

Notes

Width and stiffness are suited to wearing over a chokha or a shirt. The traditional fastening is a slip-and-tie system, not a buckle.
